Easter 2011

We spent the Easter weekend with our daughters and their families at a hotel/waterpark.

Breakfast with the grandkids.

Piper, 3, was the most daring, going down the waterslide by herself.

Paxton loved the pool.

Liam, 2, liked to walk around the pool area stomping in the water puddles.

Trip to the Landfill

It's that time of the year to hit the compost piles at the city landfill.  The landfill accepts leaves and grass clippings throughout the year.  After three years of turning and sifting, it is the best compost for my flower beds.  I'm lucky to have a husband that will haul it home and throw it on my perennial beds.  That little trailer has paid for its self many times over!

Snow is melting...

We've had temperatures in the 50's so the snow is melting fast.  The lake is almost ready to open up.  As you can see, my garden is a mess!  It's too early to clean up the bed so we'll just have to look at dead plants for awhile.

One thing that I like to do is to cut dogwood branches in late March.  As you can see they are now leafing out.  Sometimes you have to bring a little spring inside.

Winter Blues

It's April 3rd and we still have lots of snow, as you can see in the photo.  Today I took out all of my garden books and started my list of changes I want to make in my flower beds.  Just think, I'll be checking out greenhouses in just a few weeks!
